The 2014 baseball season is starting with a bang for the Indianapolis Indians. The tribe are off to an 8-1 start, the best start this season in the minor leagues and the best start for the organization since 2007. A major factor in the fast start is the play of top Pirates prospect right fielder Gregory Polanco. In nine games this season, Polanco has had five multi-hit games and reached base in every game this season. Polanco is sure to be in the big leagues soon, and he has been fun to watch, but he isn’t the only player making noise. The team has had other major contributors such as IF Andrew Lambo, 3B Brent Morel, SS Blake Davis, and OF Chris Dickerson all batting .300 to compliment the .441 hitting Polanco. This Indians team has been hitting on all cylinders and finding different ways to win. So far in the two home games at Victory Field, one was won on a walk off hit by Dickerson, and the other was a come from behind rally in the bottom of the sixth. This club is seeking to win their third straight IL west division title and are heading in the right direction. If this past week has been any indication, an exciting summer could be in store at Victory Field.
