The Indy Fuel returned home to the Indiana Farmers Coliseum on Saturday, and walked (skated) away with a 5-2 win against the Quad City Mallards. With the win, the Fuel are now 3-0-0 at home, and 5-3-1 overall. The Fuel are tied at first place with Cincinnati and Quad City in Midwest Division standings.
Rhett Bly and Peter Schneider were the first two Fuel players to add scores to the board, both in the first period. The Mallards responded by scoring two of their own goals in the second period. Josh Brittain would go on to score the tie-breaking goal in the second period, sparking an advantage over the Mallards, that would be defended until the last buzzer.
Bembridge and Lavoie would bring the score to the final of 5-2. The Fuel’s defense was strong, with 23 saves from Owen. The team is looking good as they go into a 3 game home stretch. The Fuel will host the Alaska Aces (and the touring Stanley Cup) for two games, on November 13-14.
