In the second game of a double header against the Cincinnati Cyclones, the Fuel started off strong, and continued their momentum to deliver a well-deserved win. With four goals by the Fuel in the first period, the Cyclones faced an uphill battle for the rest of the match. Despite the win, the Fuel still remain in seventh place in the ECHL North Division, with a 4-9-2-2 record.
The first period found goals by Mathieu Brisebois, Adam McKenzie, Garett Bembridge and Mike Duco. Brisebois’s goal came in on a power-play, while McKenzie scored his first career pro goal. Bembridge later went on to score the final goal of the evening, with just 59 seconds left on the clock. Strong goaltending and recurring Cyclone penalties aided the Fuel in their victory.
From crowd (and player) reaction, there seems to be quite a rivalry between the home team and Cincinnati. The game was plagued with fights and offenses by both teams. Indy will face off against the Cyclones six more times throughout the season. Despite the smaller post-holiday crowd of 3533, Indianapolis continues to show its support and excitement for the rookie team.
