INDIANPOLIS— On April 2, 2016, Flat12 Bierworks will introduce the limited edition beer, Hinchtown Hammerdown, in partnership with Verizon Series IndyCar driver, James Hinchcliffe. The beer will be brewed throughout the month of May just in time for the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500.
The limited edition brew is a crisp, refreshing pilsner-style beer that is now lagered and cold-stored. “Flat12 is a fantastic brewery and I’ve been a long-time fan. When creating the beer four years ago, we decided to go with a lager, an easy-drinking beer for a day at the track,” Hinchcliffe said about the release of his beer. It’s smooth and goes down fast—the perfect beer for a day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
“Being the mayor of ‘Hinchtown’ has its perks,” Hinchcliffe, the only IndyCar drive who has his own beer, said on brewing the limited-release beer. Starting the week of April 2, 2016, Hinchtown Hammerdown will be released to select bars, restaurants and package stores in the Indianapolis area. It will also be served at the Indianapolis Brewery and the Jeffersonville, IN taproom.
The release of Hinchtown Hammerdown is made all that more momentous by Hinchcliffe’s full recovery and return to racing after a major crash on May 18, 2015 during preparations for last year’s race. This bright racing talent suffered a leg injury when a piece of suspension broke during the crash but now #HinchI5Back and better than ever. Fans and Flat12 couldn’t be more excited to have Hinchcliffe back on the track and for the return of HInchtown Hammerdown.
The design of the specialty brew was tweaked this year to welcome Hinchcliffe back to the track and to celebrate 100 years of racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. “We’ve created a great brew, but for the 100th year celebration, we wanted to go even bigger. So at the beginning of May we will release my second Flat12 collaboration beer, The Bricks—a red IPA brewed with milk sugar, in honor of a great tradition in sports,” Hinchcliffe said.
The Bricks is the perfect beer to honor 100 years of racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with 100 IBUs and a full tank of Centennial hops. This brick red IPA commemorates the long with-standing tradition of the 500 winner drinking milk on Victory Lane and kissing the bricks. The addition of milk sugar to the brew pays homage to these traditions. The Bricks in its inaugural year, is a very limited brew that will only be released at the Indianapolis taproom on draught and in cans.
Flat12 Bierworks and Schmidt Peterson Motorsports encourage fans to show support for James Hinchcliffe by sharing the hashtag #HinchI5Back.
