Indianapolis– The Indianapolis Colts with a home field advantage at Lucas Oil Stadium lost to the New Orleans Saints Saturday night. New Orleans won the toss and chose to receive and immediately began to push the ball down field into Colt territory. With Drew Brees a former Purdue Boilermaker at the helm for the Saints it was going to be hard for the Colts defense to stop them. The Colts corner back Greg Tolen stepped up with an impressive block on a potential touchdown pass to Marcus Colston.
A few plays later the Austin Johnson of the Saints made the first touchdown of the game on a three yard pass from Drew Brees. Andrew Luck struggled in the first quarter only going 3 for 6 but completing one of the three to Coby Fleener for a 21 yard touchdown. Brees also with :36 seconds left in the first quarter connected with Marcus Colston for another touchdown.
Luke McCown of the Saint play quarterback in place of Brees but Andrew Luck continued to play on. Both quarterbacks struggled in the second quarter. McCown went 3 for 9 and Luck was 6 for 11. Thus the only scoring was two field goals for the Saints from Shayne Graham and only one field goal for the Colts from Adam Vinatieri.
Andrew Luck came back out in the third quarter, unusual in preseason for a starting quarterback and still struggled against the defense of the Saints. Andrew left the game after going 10 for 18 in passing and only one TD. Chandler Harnish on the other hand had some success in the fourth with a 22 yard touchdown pass to Josh Lenz. Later the Saints scored another field goal and the Saints beat the Colts 23-17 and the Saints remain undefeated in the preseason.
